Preparing for the Upcoming 2014 NFL Season

NFL has the longest off-season of any major sport; the 2014 NFL Season will begin on September 4, 2014. The season kickoff game will feature the defending Super Bowl Champions the Seattle Seahawks against the Green Bay Packers. The 2014 NFL season is expected to come to conclusion on February 1, 2015.

The training camps for the season will be held from late July all through to August this year. However teams are allowed to camp as early as 15-days before the preseason matches kickoff. Each team is also expected to play at least four preseason exhibition games prior to the start of the regular season. SiriusXM will kick start its 10th annual NFL Radio Training Camp by providing the most detailed radio coverage of all the 32 teams participating in the fast approaching 2014 NFL Season beginning 25 July 2014.

The 2014 NFL regular season will feature 256 games which will be played over a 17-week period. Each of the 32 teams playing in the league will play 16 games. The league is divided into 8-Division Conferences; AFC-East, AFC-South, AFC-North, AFC-West, NFC-North, NFC-East, NFC-West and NFC-South; and each division has four teams.

According to NFL-Odds Update by Topbet, the teams to watch during the 2014 NFL season are the favorites Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos and the high-value pick Arizona Cardinals. The Seattle Seahawks are already favorites to walk away with Super Bowl XLIX after they dismantled the early favorites Denver Broncos to win last year’s championship in a thrilling 43 – 8 season finale.

Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Seattle Seahawks will be missing the services of defensive linesman Red Bryant, Clinton McDonald and Chris Clemons, in addition to receiver Golden Tate who all left for other teams in free agency. Denver Broncos, on the other hand, are exuding confidence as the new season begins. The team will be led by the likes of quarterback Peyton Manning and defensive end DeMarcus Ware. The team managed to set several records last season and they are looking forward to do the same in their determination to win the Super Bowl. Last season’s records by Broncos included; 76-touchdowns, most points (606), and three (50-point) games. Peyton Manning broke the record for passing touchdowns in a season and most passing yards (5,477) which earned him his fifth MVP-trophy.

The Arizona Cardinals are another NFL team to watch during the 2014 NFL Season. The team has been building its momentum from game to game and season to season. Among their best wins in 2013, were wins against the eventual Super Bowl Champions the Seattle Seahawks and two other top ranked teams in the division level. The key players include Larry Fitzgerald who caught 10 touchdowns and had 954 receiving yards, and Patrick Peterson who is one of the best young cornerbacks in the game. The Cardinals will play against one of the toughest divisions in football with the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West. Despite the challenges, Arizona are moving into the season buoyed by its record total season win of over-under 7.5 wins to their credit.

While they are long shots the other teams to watch include are the up and coming Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota went for a team overhaul during the off-season; the overhaul saw the team add several highly-ranked draft picks including former Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater. The Jon their part, had a quality draft with the selections of QB pick Blake Bortles and wide receivers Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson who are expected to charge the team going forward.
